Newsgroup misc.immigration.canada

Misc.immigration.canada is one of several newsgroups dealing with immigration questions. It is an interactive environment where people can post questions about the immigration process and, most times, get answers to those questions. The answers come from all kinds of people: government officials, lawyers, consultants and, often, fellow applicants.

Sadly you will also see flames there. These are usually cross-posted (i.e.sent to many newsgroups at the same time) and, frankly, are a waste of valuable space. Generally it is better never to reply to (or even read!) the flame posts. Even though you may feel upset and angry try not to reply - it only fuels the fire and gives more exposure to the very things that have upset you. And all most trolls or people posting flames want is attention, so don't give in to their childish attempts to get it.

When you post a question on the group try to put the main subject of the question into the header, for instance "FBI Check?' , rather than just saying "Question for Mr. Cameron', etc. If you reply to a post take a quick look at the top line to see if it has been crossposted. If it has and you just hit the"Reply' button, your answer will also cross-post. To correct this just delete out the rest of the newsgroups and only leave in the one (or at most, two) that you want to send it to.

The misc.immigration.canada newsgroup has become a fountain of information over the past several years and we thank the regular contributers, lawyers, consultants and lay persons alike who give so generously of their time, knowledge and support to help applicants choose the right path.

The following people post frequently on this newsgroup. Some are applicants, some lawyers and at least two were senior officers with Canadian Immigration. If you have any questions, either make a post mentioning the subject in the header and perhaps the name of the person you would like an answer from (though you will probably get answers from more than one source), or click on a name and read through the list of articles/posts that person has written....... it is highly likely that your question has already been dealt with.

If any of the links are broken please let us know through the guest book and we will try to fix the problem.
