- June 29th 2012. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announces Ottawa will stop accepting new immigration applications to the federal skilled worker and investor programs starting July 2nd. Apparently the skilled worker program will be reopened in January, when “important changes” will be made. However, the investor program will be halted indefinitely so the government can “make progress on processing its existing inventory.”
From Carolyn: No I have no idea what those changes will be, sorry.
- Reported 21st June 2008: the backlog of pending applications will worsen. Apparently any applications made after February 26th 2008 are on hold until there is clarification of the new instructions from the Minister expected in the autumn/fall.
- With the election coming up all the parties are promising all kinds of immigration changes. Politicians and promises.... hmmm... I was known as Gullible Fisher in school but I am a
little bit older now, so I'll wait and see :o)
- Starting September 17th, 2008 some temporary workers and students will be allowed to
apply for Permanent Residence.
